Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving.

The Orb

This is the orb that started it all....
I saw this piece in a Pottery Barn summer catalog as strictly a decorative piece.  It was also wayy too much money.  But I saw a great potential as a light and the dimensions were perfect for the front patio....
Fast forward through many hours of researching these types of lights and lots of disappointment.  Restoration Hardware wanted $800 for the size I wanted, Ballard Designs wanted $600.  Uh No.
So....I kept watching this PB piece and low and behold, it went on sale half price and free shipping as soon as fall hit.  Yeehaw!  I ordered it immediately.

Then came the search for the conversion kit to make it a light.  But a couple weeks in to that process I realized, why use a conversion kit when I could actually use a pendant of some sort.  Off to Lowe's we went.  I immediately found the exact light type I wanted.  I love it when things work out like that.
So here is the light I chose at Lowe's....

In Process...

So after insane Pottery Barn put this garden orb on sale, half price free shipping, and I got it delivered, I painted it to match the light fixture I chose from Lowe's, which matched the house and the kick plates, and Rob did some magic to make the orb a light.  He is amazing.  His work involved welding and grinding.  Way beyond my capabilities.

This sad little thing is what came when we bought the house.  I have always detested it.

Thanksgiving Feast

After I was at Addison's school this morning, I ran to Allie's school to join her for her Thanksgiving feast.  Robbie had gotten her to school and dropped off, but as I had the opportunity to stop by her school, i did and it was AWESOME.
Evelyn and Rob came in at hte end and Evelyn had perfect timing, Mrs. King gave her a pudding cup too.  :)
My sweet little indian hat girl.
Of course, one pic and it has to be blurry!
The decorations were so cute.  I loved it and so did Al.

Friendship Feast

I was at Addison's school this morning at 7:45, got everything ready for their Friendship feast and then ran home and baked the cornbread that the kids mixed up.  They also made pudding and the soup, including peeling veggies and cutting them.  (that was scary!)
They also made butter, here is Addi shaking it like crazy.
We helped them make pilgrim hats first thing this morning.
Her whole class of Girl pilgrims, boy pilgrims and indian friends.  Very cute.
After Allie's class party, I went back to Addison's school for the rest of the day and we had quite a feast.  It was awesome!  I loved helping the class out today and look forward to when Allie and Evelyn are there and I can pop between classes. :)

Off to school we go. :)

Hail!

We got a torrential downpour tonight including hail.  We all had our weak little umbrellas playing in the rain until Daddy brought out the perfect solution. :)

Rain!

Addison loved going to school in the rain this morning. And Allie loved tagging along.

Snuggle Girl

Macie is my snuggle girl while we watch Daddy put up my wreaths.  Yessss :)

Its cold! :))))

Marky Mark

So last night when we were getting ready to go to bed, Addison wants me to help pick out her clothes.  We do this every night.  Of course dear.  Then she proceeds to say, "I want to wear cool clothes".  (Last week it was "fancy clothes").
So we go in her room, throw open her closet, and I try to figure out what "cool clothes" means...she spots these shorts, (which she has not ever worn) and immediately, decisions are made...these shorts are COOL, and she needs a short sleeved shirt for running at PE today.

So here she is, my little Marky Mark.  I asked her if this is gong to be a thing and she said, "No, maybe just for PE days".  WHEW.  I do not have boys and dressing my girls like boys may be a Jolie-Pitt kinda thing, it is not however, a Vandecar thing.  I will try to have patience every Wednesday in the name of PE.
