Craft time

Today while at the store with the girls I saw burlap.  That is a dangerous thing as I am currently obsessed with burlap.  This tree skirt I had seen on Pinterest popped in to my mind and two yards of each of these fabrics was quickly in my cart.  Tonight, armed with scissors and a glue gun, I created my masterpiece.  haha.  Maybe not masterpiece, but it is darn cute and was so easy and fun to make.  I really really think tree skirts matter in the scheme of Christmas decor and I have NEVER had one that I liked, so finally I do.  It's not my forever tree skirt, but it'll get me by for a couple more years!  :0)

Thanksgiving and Christmas crafts

Here are just a couple of crafts we have done lately.  The plates I had done with my activity girls previously.  You use special markers and then bake them and the color is fairly permanent, its a great fun cheap craft as I got the plates at the dollar store.  Awesome.
Then this ornament project Heather brought us this weekend and we just did them tonight.  The girls loved watching the paint run everywhere.  Very fun!  I love doing crafts with the girls, and they love it too.  Thank you HEATHER for these ornaments and the wonderful idea!!

Letters!!!!!

Allie is all about writing her letters today.  Thank you Grandma Lady for getting her on this with her B's!!

Apple Pie

and this is a visual representation of why Macie is my best friend.  I made the most beautiful apple pie yesterday and after the big girls both turned up their noses at pie, my sweet Evelyn Macie did not and she actually ate it.  Thank you Macie for liking my pie.  I think she just ate it because she felt sorry for me!  Whatever, it's delish.

Yummmm

This is our feast.  The girls loved Daddy's smoked turkey, Macie ate Way more than can be healthy, I'm a little worried about her tummy.   My gravy was the best ever (for me) and everything went off without a hitch. :)

Each of us chose a black and white plate off the top of the cupboards and I used all my black and white serving wear, it was kinda fun.  Yay to turkey and thankfulness!!

Of course the playhouse too....

A girl after great grandma's heart. Lol

Ahhhh, Dessert!

These girls are cracking me up!  They just got up from nap and I was making Robbie's cherry cheesecake.  I let them have a little taste and they made the most terrible faces.  Seriously they cannot be Robbie's girls.  He requests cheesecake for every birthday and holiday.  This year he also requested lemon bars...lol.  NOT Thanksgiving-y.  But Addison this year requested hot apple pie with vanilla ice cream.  I don't know where she got this idea as she has never been intersested in my apple pie.  But considering it is my absolute favorite and I never make it for just myself, I am happy to comply with her request.  :)))  Lemon bars and cheesecake made, 1st turkey done and now to make Addi her apple pie.  I LOVE THE HOLIDAYS!

Sassy

Addison's sassy new hair cut!  When there were no tangles this morning, she was especially loving it!!!!

2!

We were quite busy in 2011!  I just got my books, yes I said bookssssss. :)  I take two books as a good sign!  :)

I am learning that sometimes in your life you get special gifts. They are amazing and precious- they are when you get to watch your children be who they really are- who they were built to be, who they have always been since before they were yours here. You see their soul, and you realize that while yes they are "yours" and although they gained physical life with in me, I am in no way their creator. This has made me appreciate my role as their mother in an entirely different and wholly humbling way.
A really special friend said this to me a few years ago and it has changed me, she said - Before we came to earth we were spirits as we are now, we came here and gained bodies and while we are prevented from knowing and remembering anything from our time before coming here...we were personalities and we were happy and we were whole. We were as we should be. And the purpose of our lives here is to gain a realization of what we were then. It's a journey for the purpose of becoming or returning to that state of joy and peace.

The gift and the goal of being their mother is to Somehow help them to get there. And in the moments I am seeing their souls I realize how lucky i am that I get this privilege. How blessed am I that I will get to witness this. And how great the responsibility.
I have many things to be thankful for in my life, but most of all, I am thankful for my children.

Fire :)

Robbie went to work and I rummaged the garage for old project wood....we have plenty of that right now.  :)  it's not the least bit cold but sometimes ya just need a fire on a Sunday evening.

Pink!

It's a pink day!  I look slightly ridiculous but who cares?!  The girls are loving it!  Lol

Grouting

I really only had intentions of filling in a little here and there where the grout had been chipped or was missing....that's how it always starts...before I knew it, it was three and a half hours later, and the whole kitchen had been redone.  :) I will seal it tomorrow and then we'll be back to normal.
But I am very happy with it, it was well worth the work.

I am watching White Christmas with the girls for the first time and they are absolutely entranced. Omgosh I am so happy right now as they are trying to copy the "Sisters" song. My sisters and I grew up singing this starting when we were so little. Merry Christmas!!

The big boat.

Addison's drawing of a cruise ship complete with a shark, a cannon and a rain storm.  Now that would be a cruise to avoid.
