Christmas Morning!

Addison's first Christmas was more for us than for her I think. Robbie had to work, but was able to come home after briefing, (about 6am). Addison and I were up and ready to open presents of course. So she pulled a couple ribbons but wasn't that interested, so I placed her in her swing so she could watch us open the rest. Five seconds later she was asleep. Apparently she was not that interested!

Leavenworth!

Leavenworth was awesome this year. We got there on Friday and there was snow on the ground, but it wasn't snowing. Addison was in the front pack in her snow suit (thanks Grandma), and off we went. We got about twenty feet from the hotel room and sure enough, she needed a diaper change, PU! Back we went to get her out of the front pack, out of her snow suit, out of her outfit and get her diaper changed. whew! But once we got going again, off we went for the day. Her bottle was still too hot by the time she wanted it, so Grandma put it in the snow for us to cool it off. Once she got that in her tummy....zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. She was out! Warm tummy, warm hat, snuggly front pack is a good combo!

I am a GREAT flyer!

So in the long list of firsts for Addison, we can now include flying. She and I and Great Grandma flew from Burbank to PDX on December 17th without a hitch....it was a beautiful thing. On the way back, without Great Grandma =( is where we had adventures!!!
First my Angel Baby is sleeping as we go through security....I have all my stuff in the little bin, my ticket and ID are in my hand, I have removed my shoes and vest and I am feeling pretty proud of myself to have done all this without waking her up, only to have the grouchy airline lady make me remove her little pink Uggs and strip her of her blanket. Did I mention I am not fond of the Portland Airport?!?! I just looked at her and was like "are you serious"? Half of me really thought she was kidding. Ugh. She was not kidding.
Then we get on the plane where I so skillfully booked myself in the very first row of the whole plane with no one beside me....apparently Mr. Wanna-be-Abercrombie checked in after I did and booked himself next to me. So I am sitting there, having pre-boarded, and he comes on the plane and sits next to me. ugh. strikes up a conversation and then is like, oh my gosh I didn't realize you were holding a baby and I am like "yep, you can move if you want, I won't be offended". He was like- no that's cool....ugh. so after a few minutes he says "Man, that is the quietest baby ever!!" I was laughing inside, I looked at him and said "Yeah, she is nursing right now". the look on his face said IT ALL. I thought he was going to die right there. he could not get out of there fast enough...He literally jumped out of the seat and chased down the flight attendant to see if the flight was full and if he could move....I laughed for a good ten minutes after that. His face was priceless.

SLEEPING IN THE CRIB!!

Okay, so we have had a lot of firsts this week as you have already seen, but the one I am most excited about is Addison sleeping in her crib. I am seriously in shock as you can see, I am blogging at 4:45am! I put her down (after a day of seriously NO NAPS) after we got home from our friend's Julie and Bob's. It was around 10:15, she cried for about seven minutes (I spent five of those crying outside her door), but we did it! She fell sound asleep until about 3:45am when I nursed her and placed her back in her crib swaddled with the white noise still on and magically, back to sleep!! I am seriously shocked. Thank you Rachel for advising us to get "The Happiest Baby on the Block" and special thanks to sweet uncle J for guilting me into the swaddling and the sleeping alone in her crib! lol! no really....THANKS!

Yesterday was a day of a lot of firsts:

  1. We tried swaddling
  2. We used white noise
  3. Addison slept thru the night (9.5 hours!!!!!)
  4. Mommy Meg got a good night sleep

It was wonderful. =) Addison is getting very big. She is in the 95 percentile for height now, 24 inches long....as of 11/21/07.
