Today Addison and I were sharing a yogurt in the loft. Allie was laying on the sofa kinda on my lap. Well I had the spoon in my hand and I don't know what came over me, but I gave her a bite of yogurt. GASP I know! Me, the mother who gave Addison NOTHING before the pediatrician and at least 14 books recommended it. I am out of control! lol.
But she loved it and licked her lips and was so darn cute. She may have gotten more than one taste. But that's it. I won't do it again. I am going to start her on cereal here shortly. She's four months old on the 4th of June and that's good enough for me and the AAP. She's not had formula, so the formula and cereal will be new. I am sure she'll like that nasty formula / cereal mixture about as much as Addison did. =( bleh.

Big Girl Bed!
Yep, Addi now sleeps in a big girl bed. Well it's not too big, it's actually just her crib converted to a toddler bed. But she LOVES it. She now wants to sleep with her baby doll each night and wants her tucked in beside her.
I thought this transition would be a lot harder but it's been easy so far. (jinxed i know). Rob converted it about a week ago and no problems. She gets out of bed and takes her blanket to her rocker occasionally. We have found her there asleep more than once. It's sad but cute. Sweet baby girl.

EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT!

20 Month old local girl saves self and sister!
Today in the parking lot of the LDS church Addison Vandecar performed amazing feats and saved herself and her little sister Allie.
It all started when Addison's Mom Megan loaded her girls into their SUV.
She did not buckle Addison immediately, but went around the car to place 3 month old Allie in. After doing so, Megan tossed her baby bag and keys in to the driver seat and then shut Allie's door. Upon reaching Addison's door she realized that somehow the key fob has caused the doors to lock!
THE GIRLS WERE TRAPPED!
Megan ran back in to the church to call her husband, an on-duty CHP officer for help. Upon doing so, Addison's nursery teacher, and her husband (an LAPD officer), immediately raced with Megan back out to the SUV. Upon arriving at the SUV, Addison was standing on the driver's seat after making her way up there from the very back. She was happy as a clam and pretending to drive the car. Staying calm under pressure was not a problem for her.
Addison was standing near the keys at the time and when asked to do so, picked them up. Officer Duplantis (LAPD) then asked Addison to "push the buttons" and upon realizing her now fussing little sister Allie was probably getting hot, Addison proceeded to use the key fob to activate the remote start function, start the car and provide both girls with air conditioning. Officer Duplantis then asked the 20 month old wonder girl to "push more buttons" and so she did so, promptly unlocking the car doors.
She was cool under pressure, never breaking a sweat while performing her heroic feat.
Neither Addison nor Allie Vandecar could be reached for comment.
Yes this all really happened and I don't know what I would have done without Addison's nursery teacher and her husband. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! You guys were awesome while I was trying not to totally freak out. You totally saved the day.
I kept my head, but once that door was open I was a sobbing mess! and Addison has had "hero treatment" today including chicken nuggets and a frosty all her own. She earned it! =)

Fun at the Savage's
Yes those are her feet way up in the air!
Addison had the two most fun days of her life at the Savage's. Saturday and Sunday were filled with swimming, swimming, swimming! She is a little fish. I didn't know if she would love it because she hasn't had swimming lessons in about a year. But I guess it's like riding a bike because she was so excited to get in that water! Uncle Spencer bought her a little floaty she could ride in and it had a steering wheel and she loved that. But what she loved most was jumping in from the side and "flying" with Daddy. (see pics and video) By Sunday she was dunking when she jumped in from the side and didn't mind it.
Allie slept through most of the swim time, but did get in on Sunday afternoon for a few minutes. She is too little for so much sun and sunscreen, but she liked kicking her little feet in the water. She is such a sweet baby!

We're back!
Okay this trip may have been the best, most fun filled trip we have ever taken as a family!!!
So first we went to Elk Grove for one night and saw Amber and Spencer. They have a super fun park right by there house so that was fun for Addison and the weather that first night was cool and perfect. The next morning we got up and went to Tahoe. I love Tahoe. We have never been but will definitely go back. We stayed at a GREAT hotel called The Village at Squaw Valley. It really is a village. 20 restaurants, shopping, everything you need. It was extra fabulous because the ski season had ended the week before and the place was a ghost town. Literally NOBODY there. It was wonderful. Our little condo thing faced the mountain and had there been snow we could have watched the skiers come down the runs right to our balcony, and having a full kitchen was great with Addison. We were able to eat breakfast right in the room instead of rushing out to find food. We will definitely stay there again. The resort also had a children's play room where they had tons of toys. Robbie took her down one night for quite a while and she had a great time. Right down the way from the hotel there was another park with a huge jungle gym and she loved that as well. fun fun fun!
OH and in one picture you can see her pants are all wet...that is because she took a little dip in Lake Tahoe. Rob fished her out and all she wanted to do was go back in. crazy girl. and thanks to Jana for the advice on the double stroller cuz I love it and thanks to Grandma for getting it for us. Yay!

CHP graduation
So then after Tahoe we went back to Amber and Spencer's and went to CHP graduation for academy class IV-08 - Shannon's class. Shannon is kind of a stud for those of you who don't know him. He graduated number 13 in his class, and also received the physical fitness award for his entire graduating class of 173. WOW
It brought back so many memories for us. Good for me, probably not so good for Robbie. lol. but that was a good time in our lives. I was pregnant the whole academy and got to live with Amber and Spencer. My work there in South Sacramento was enjoyable and challenging- which I loved. and Robbie was working his way to graduating number 3 in his class. He probably didn't enjoy the academy experience (who does?) but he was successful overall, worked hard and did a great job maintaining balance in his life.

and we're off again!
We are headed north again. Rob has the next eleven days off so we are outta here. We'll go to Elk Grove tomorrow and then to Tahoe for a few days, then back for Shannon's graduation from the CHP academy. Then a few days with Am and Spence in Elk Grove and then through Coalinga to see Rob's roommate from academy and his wife who is newly pregnant. (YAY!)and then home again. Another busy couple weeks.
I can't believe Shannon is graduating from the academy. First Robbie, then Rob's cousin Shane and now Shannon. crazy! It'll be cool to see, that's for sure. Shannon is a helicopter pilot so he'll be looking to move in to air ops when a position opens up.
Shannon moved to Irrigon in the 8th grade with a crazy mohawk (before they were cool), and a fabulous accent. I was the first person to talk to him in Ms. Ferguson's language class (to make fun of his accent I should say), and the rest is history. He was Rob's best man at our wedding and we are very excited that he has been assigned to Moor Park which is just 75 miles from us. Welcome to Cali friend!

More please
I just have to put this one in. It touched my heart. Addison is so sweet...
About two weeks ago we started saying prayers with Addison before bed. She understands to fold her arms and closes her eyes for the whole sacrament prayers at church each week. Yay! So as we went to bed I asked if she wanted to say her prayers. I got an enthusiastic "Ya!". So we folded our arms and closed our eyes and I said a simple prayer for her and then said Amen. Her little eyes FLEW open and she instantly started signing MORE MORE MORE! That made me laugh. So we closed our eyes and said another little prayer. again MORE MORE MORE. Now, not wanting to squash this enthusiasm for prayer, we did one more prayer. After that I just had to tell her that it was very late and we had to go to sleep and we could do it again in the morning. hahaha. She is so sweet.
